Spin polarization after a local quench: At time t=0 a “magnetic field” along the z-axis is switched on abruptly at site i=1. The subsequent dynamics of the spin polarization is shown for spin-spin interactions in (a) the dimerized limit (detuning 1kHz), that is extremely long-range, and (b) the 1/ r 3 limit (detuning 10MHz). Counterintuitively, for extremely long-range interactions the information remains localized for a long time, except for the immediate communication with the dimerized neighbor spin. In (b), we find spreading of the information in form of two spinons.
